Who would have thought that a miniature Formula One hellraiser like the Ariel Atom would be so (relatively) affordable? But with an available 300 bhp supercharged engine crammed into a lightweight (456kgs/1003 lbs) frame (lending to stratospheric acceleration and handling), the $30K price of admission all of a sudden seems quite reasonable. The gents of Ariel Motor Corp., based in Somerset, England, have developed a driving machine that inspires motolust in even non-petrolheads. And as a bonus, it’s completely street legal. Though the lack of accoutrements (i.e. sheetmetal, roof, windscreen) may limit your boy racer fantasies to warm, dry climes, the Atom will easily make you forget that you’re soaking wet and hypothermic. It’s that good.
