The Re-Emergence of The Femcee
It seems every millisecond someone’s homeboy is dropping a mix-tape. A guaranteed 99.99% of those “dope” releases will be lost in the crypt of wanna-be-rappers too whack to be considered for anything else but a coaster…or skeet-shooting.
Surprisingly a female emcee by the name of RA the MC is proving herself to be a part of that .01% that is focused on changing the game one mix at a time. “Are You Not Entertained?” her latest mix-tape effort is an eclectic mix of tracks that exercises her way with words. She shines brilliantly on tracks such as “We Suffer“ with Theophilus London and “Let’s Talk About It” featuring Fresh Daily. She continues flexing her lyrical muscles on “Tight Mouth Rap“, and “Brenda“ that recalls the Tupac classic, “Brenda’s Got A Baby.”
With Lil’ Kim dancing with the stars and Remy Ma serving a stint in the pen, finding a “femcee” that can write her own rhymes is as hard as pin-pointing the whereabouts of Queen Pen. Ra is a much needed addition to the game and definitely worth a listen. You’ll have to place your glass of Cîroc on the table, no coaster here.
